Screen, camera and sound as separate tracks, for your editor
When a take needs real editing, download it as separate files and finish it in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or any editor that opens MP4 and WAV.
Download tracks: four files that line up at zero, in sync, on an editor's timeline.
The files you get
| File | What it is |
|---|---|
| Screen | H.264 MP4, at a constant 30 fps |
| Camera | H.264 MP4, at a constant 30 fps: the whole camera picture, not cut to the bubble |
| Microphone | Uncompressed WAV |
| System audio | Uncompressed WAV |
| Logo | Its own file, when the take uses one |
Each take gives you the files it has: there's no camera file if you recorded without a camera, for example.
Why they line up
Every file is cut to the same timeline: each starts at the same moment and runs exactly as long as the others. Drop them all at the start of your timeline and they stay in sync from the first frame to the last. Your trim and cuts are already applied.
The video is a constant 30 fps on purpose. Screen recordings usually have a variable frame rate, which drifts out of sync in most editors, so Floonova converts it and your editor never has to.
The audio is uncompressed WAV, so editing it never costs another round of lossy compression.
What's left out, on purpose
These are the raw ingredients. Cursor zoom, the camera bubble's shape and position, and the logo's placement aren't burned in, so you can frame things your own way. If you also want the finished look, export the MP4: the separate files line up with it too.
In your editor
- Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve: import the files, put each one on its own track at the very start of the timeline, and they line up.
- Reframe the camera as a corner, a split screen or a full-screen cutaway. You have the whole picture to work with.
- Clean up your voice on its own. Noise reduction, EQ or levelling on the microphone file never touches the system sound.
- Turn the system sound down under your voice, or mute it where it doesn't belong.
How to get them
Separate tracks come with Pro. Open a take in your library and choose Download tracks. It works for takes on your computer and for ones you've uploaded to your Floonova cloud. See pricing
Questions
Which editors can open the files?
Any editor that opens H.264 MP4 and WAV, which includes Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
Do the files include my edits?
Your trim and cuts, yes. Cursor zoom and the camera bubble's shape and position are left out, so you can set them up your own way.
Is the camera file a circle?
No. It's the whole camera picture, whatever shape the bubble was.
Is it on the Free plan?
No, separate tracks come with Pro. On the Free plan you export one MP4 with everything in it. See the screen recorder for what Free includes.
Why 30 fps?
A constant frame rate keeps every file in sync in your editor. Screen captures don't have one by themselves, so Floonova sets one: 30 fps for every separate video file.
